Task 5- Discuss client considerations for the creation of the product from the pitch

Task 5: Evaluate the response

Learning Outcome 3 (U21):  Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions.(D1)

Following my presentation the client offered me constructive and effective feedback that helped me realise how to create the best possible product and ways to sell it to my consumers. The client advised me to create a website for the online content to be viewed and to raise awareness of it via many different social media platforms. Also, as it will be online i was notified by the client that many people use there phones to view online material so i should create a phone app where it is easy to view and portable so people can read the magazine wherever they are. I was instructed to make the price more clear to the customers because i said in my pitch that it will cost £2.99 to buy in store but i did not mention the fee of subscription each month or a yearly subscription fee and whether the magazine is available to be delivered to your door when you subscribe to it as this will make it more convenient for the target market. It was also mentioned that i should have a secondary colour pallet so that i don't just stick to the same colour scheme for every edition because customers could get bored of seeing and reading in the same colour if they're not interested in the content that much as well. Finally, i was made aware that i should discuss music in other areas on London and not just North London because grime music is performed all over and not in one area even though my magazine is a North London based area.

Useful Feedback

I agree with the client that i should create a website for my so it is easy for my customers to view my magazine. Also i can upload my teasers of short articles on to the homepage of the website with a link to fully subscribe online and i will take on the advice of offering print copies delivered to people's homes so it is more convenient for them and guarantees that they stay subscribed to us if we suit their individual needs. Another idea that i will take on board is that i should create an app for my magazine because i am targeting people aged 15-30 so my target audience are generally the younger demographics. I will do this because many people view online content via their smartphones so by creating an app it is tailored to the platform that my target market commonly use. Also, this will mean that the customers can read the magazine wherever they are because there phones are portable and many people read content when they use public transport such as trains or buses.

Another point that i have noted and agree with is that i will make it clear to my customers the price of buying one off editions in stores near schools and the price of subscribing to the magazine online and paying a monthly fee for each edition. I will do this by expressing the different prices on the website that i will create so the customers see the benefits of going in to stores to buy the magazine or the benefits of subscribing and receiving monthly editions.

Non-useful Feedback

I was instructed by the client to add a secondary colour pallet so that my monthly editions don't look the same as the month before but i disagree that this is a good idea because i want my magazine to distinguish itself in the market so i want to have a set colour scheme that each edition will follow so that my consumers know the colour scheme and will get used to it. I want my magazine to feel personal to the customer base so by not changing the colour scheme it will make the customers feel involved and also a change in colour scheme could mean a change in customers but i want to keep then same loyal customers. Another idea that was presented to me that i don't agree with is that i should talk about other areas in North London because grime music takes place all over, but my magazine is a North London based magazine that is set in the area and talks about performances at venues in the area so i don't believe that i should talk about other areas because my unique selling point is North London so if i go off of topic and the main reason for the creation of the magazine it will lose the unique feel to it.
